Children of low-income families in New Brunswick will benefit from a vision and dental plan recently announced by Social Development Minister Sue Stultz.

The dental program, which will take effect September 1, will provide each child aged 18 and younger living in low-income families with up to $1000 in dental services each year. Basic items such as regular exams, x-rays and extractions, as well as some preventive treatments, will be covered under the new program.

An estimated 22 000 children in the province will qualify for the new program.
