The Saskatchewan Oral Health Professions Conference Planning Committee has been hard at work preparing for the 2012 CDA Conference, to be held September 13-15 at TCU Place in Saskatoon. As a proud member of CDA, the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CDSS) lends Saskatchewan’s voice to the ongoing efforts made at the national level to advance the dental profession and improve the oral health of all Canadians. This year’s conference theme, Diversity in Dentistry, reflects the wide-ranging character of Canadian dentistry, from its specialized areas of interest to its people.

This is the first time the Saskatchewan Oral Health Professions has hosted a CDA conference. This year’s event offers presentations on diverse topic areas that are sure to interest all dental professionals. Invited speakers will discuss dental implants, finances, social media, updates in products and technology, and new trends in oral health—to name just a few. We are also pleased to feature presentations that focus on the CDA “Priority 1” projects: Age One Dental Visit, by Dr. Anjani Koneru; The New JCDA: Convening a Community around Clinical Knowledge, by Dr. John O’Keefe; and Trust and Value Strategy, by Dr. Randall Croutze.

Great entertainment is planned throughout the event. Come listen to local bands, be amazed by Double Vision (Canada’s only identical twin magic act), and enjoy the award-winning humour of comedian Derek Edwards.

Whether you’re from Saskatchewan or new to the province, you will enjoy our prairie hospitality. Explore our many stunning parks, dine in a variety of mouth-watering restaurants, and stay at one of the many popular downtown hotels—but be sure to book early as hotels are filling up fast. Conference participants arriving by air can use our complimentary shuttle service (offered Thursday through Saturday) to take you from the airport to your hotel.

The University of Saskatchewan (U of S) College of Dentistry is hosting an All Years reunion in conjunction with the convention, so there are sure to be many familiar faces in Saskatoon for homecoming events. In fact, U of S alumni activities are scheduled throughout the week beginning September 12 with a drop-in welcome reception and culminating September 15 with a banquet dinner celebrating 40 years of dentistry with the U of S and the CDSS. Tickets to the banquet dinner are available on our website with your general registration.

Dentists, dental auxiliaries and guests are invited to attend the dental trade show along with a variety of continuing education sessions and other social events, including entertainers, children’s activities, a golf tournament, fun run, guided historic walking tour, riverboat luncheon cruise, and a tour of Wanuskewin Heritage Park.

For more registration and event details, visit www.cdasask2012.ca.

Come and experience Saskatchewan’s friendly and welcoming people in the fastest growing economy in Canada. This is one event you will not want to miss! With the involvement and efforts of both our local team and CDA, we know it will be a great success.

We look forward to your visit!
