General Dentist - Clinical Practice Group Leader

The Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie University, is seeking application for four (4) full-time, continuous term General Dentists at the rank of instructor.

In conjunction with other dental and dental hygiene clinical faculty, the successful candidates are expected to oversee the care of patients seen in one of four clinical ‘small group practices’ in the undergraduate program, and teach all aspects of clinical oral health care related to general practice. A group practice leader will collaborate with three other group practice leaders, dental specialists, dental hygiene faculty and clinical staff.  The group leaders will also be involved in the administrative duties related to patient assignment and account maintenance. One day per week will be spent doing administrative duties related to the position; four days spent teaching and overseeing clinical care carried out by dental students, in conjunction with their dental hygiene colleagues. Additional expectations include participation in continuing education and Faculty committees, as they relate to the position.

Candidates must have successfully completed their National Dental Examining Board of Canada examinations and be eligible for licensure by the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia. Preference will be given to candidates who have substantial experience in general dental practice and in the management of a dental practice. Preference will also be given to candidates with previous teaching experience at the university level. The Faculty does not offer academic licensure. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, experience and achievements.
