U of T Dentistry Elects New Dean

Dr. Daniel Haas of Toronto has been appointed dean of the University of Toronto faculty of dentistry, for a 5-year mandate.

Dr. Haas is an internationally recognized scholar and has received numerous awards for his research and teaching achievements. For the past 11 years, he has served as associate dean, clinical sciences, at the University of Toronto. He also is an executive member of the University of Toronto Centre for the Study of Pain, and has chaired several faculty and clinical sciences committees. Dr. Haas is also an editorial consultant for JCDA.

“Professor Haas brings to the deanship a rich background in research, teaching, clinical service and administrative experience, as well as extensive involvement with national and international organizations,” said Cheryl Misak, vice-president and provost of the University of Toronto.

Dr. Haas currently maintains a practice at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s department of dentistry in Toronto, focused on providing sedation and anesthesia to dental patients with special needs.
