This year’s winners of the Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR) Student Research Awards Competition have been announced.
The winners, as selected by a panel of Canadian dental researchers, are:
- Junior Category – First place: Kathleen Martin, Western University
- Senior Category, Basic Science – First place: Corneliu Sima, University of Toronto
- Senior Category, Basic Science – Second place: Iwona Wenderska, University of Toronto
- Senior Category, Clinical Research – First place: Xixi Wu, McGill University
To enter the competition, student and postdoctoral researchers in dental and oral health submit a manuscript that has not been published or previously presented at a major scientific meeting. Dr. Sima and Ms. Wu, as two of the most highly ranked applicants, will also represent Canada in the Unilever Hatton competition in Cape Town, South Africa, in June 2014.
The CADR Student Research Awards are sponsored by CADR and Henry Schein Canada. Winners will be presented with their awards at the CADR annual meeting, which will be held in March 2014 in conjunction with the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) meeting in Charlotte, North Carlolina.
